OK my people… this is a first for me, and I hope you’ll join Joella of Blogs With Wings and I in this fun little foray deeper into the realm of blogging and networking.
I will be hosting her latest Blog Carnival edition here on BGB and we’re looking for posts from you on ways to successfully convert your blog from a simple, mayhap even personal operation… into a more advanced, business oriented model designed to earn you some moola!
The caveat is we’re looking for ways you can do it without totally turning off your existing readers for life and making them hate you, and possibly inspiring them to hunt you down and murder you in your sleep.
Easy peasy right? No pressure.
Now you’ve got a generous allotment of time with which to create this masterpiece, all the way up until September 4th. (That’s 2010 btw, NOT 2011 folks!)
And luckily it’s super easy. All you do is write a relevant post on YOUR blog, then submit it to the carnival. If it’s approved as fitting by yours truly, a link to your post will appear here on BGB on September 6th, along with links to other kick-ass ways to monetize a blog by your fellow carnival-ees.
See? Told you it was uber simple.
So What’s the Benefit to Participating?
Well, besides the fun factor…
- You get to be involved and introduced to other fellow bloggers such as yourself.
- You get inspired by some great ideas that do not originate from your own brain.
- You get an organic backlink on BGB, which is good for SEO. BGB is a page rank of 3, with a pretty good amount of traffic, and a growing readership.
- That means more traffic for you, maybe a new friend or two, and exposure you wouldn’t have otherwise had!
- Plus every post gets promoted by both myself and Miz Joella across our social networks… somewhere in the neighborhood of 60,000 strong.
Pretty sweet right? Not bad for nothing more than writing a post on your own blog, which you’d be doing anyway… and bonus! No wracking your brain for what to talk about!
So remember…
Deadline September 4th, 2010.
Your post must fit the topic or it’s a no-go. And you MUST have fun. OK, that’s just my arbitrary rule, but hey… I’m hostess, I can do that!
Submit your blog article to this edition of the Blogs With Wings Blog Carnival! Use our carnival submission form. Past posts and future hosts can be found on our blog carnival index page.
Questions, comments… drop them below, I’ll do my best to clarify!

AWESOMEST BLOG CARNIVAL just started from @BigGirlBranding http://bit.ly/cRyTDZ #31DBBB Did I mention I'm stalking her blog now? She rocks!
Hi Cori,
This is quite the exciting challenge and I will consider it every seriously. I have copied the information and will mull over it and let you know when I create the post. I have a monetized blogspot blog but it needs a big push so this exercise should help me put my thinking cap on.
Thank you for stopping by my blogspot blog (positive kismet). I am glad we made a connection as i plan to come back and learn more from your entrepreneur posts. I love the layout of your blog too.
Have a great day ahead!

Make sure you submit it via the carnival submission form… I’m sure it will be great! There are always additional ways you can monetize, so do a little digging, and see how you might do it with integrity and with your readership in mind.
Your first?!?!? Pick me! now I have to figure out exactly what the topic is supposed to be. Its 3:15 and my brain is not functioning at top speed. or is it rate. hmm. i wonder id this is the equivalent to drunk texting… sleepy commenting.

Hee.. sleepy commenting, definitely the bloggers equivalent to drunk dialing. lol Topic- ways you can or would monetize your blog and turn it into a viable revenue stream, without turning off your current readers and making them hate you.
Easy peasy.
Well!
How can I refuse another challenge when I just did the 7 Link Challenge over on Problogger!
I’ll try, like teevee, once I’m clear about the task.
I’ll read all your info and then get thinking!
Count me in!

Can’t wait to see your submission! Feel free to ask any questions you need to here for further clarification.
That’s a kick-ass idea, Cori,
I will participate. But the question remains: What’s the topic ?
Is it arbitrary or not ?

AKA- How to monetize a simple blog to begin earning revenue from it (either directly or indirectly), in such a way that you don’t turn-off your current readership. Monetize with integrity if you will.
Maybe you just started blogging and never thought about making it a part of your business model.. maybe you have monetized it somewhat, and need to come up with additional ways to increase it’s earning power, without making your readers hate you or becoming a total spam blog or something.
Makey sense?

A Blog Carnival Virgin- And Why You Should Be My First! — Big Girl Branding http://bit.ly/beI6Pt
At first when I read this, I thought that there was no need for me to join as I haven’t yet figured out how to turn my blogs into a successful business. Then I re-read the post and saw that wasn’t a qualification, only to come up with an idea how to do so. Yeah, big duh on my part.
So I’ve decided to give it a go. Who knows if my idea will be workable, but just getting the chance to think it over and post it somewhere publicly will be good for me.
Let the fun begin!
-Moki
LOL.. well glad you went back to re-read! Can’t wait to see your post Moki, and don’t stress… you have until Sept 4th to figure out a great idea.
Hey, Cori – I’d love to participate, but I don’t write direct posts on how to monetize your blog. Some of my posts could probable fit your theme; I will submit, you decide:).

Hi Cori,
I have only had my site up for just over a month, but find the topic for your carnival very intriguing.
It is something I have thought about, being a newbie, and would be a great opportunity to be a Bigboyblogger.
Hmmm.
Neil
Hey Neil!
New blogs are welcome, as long as the post fits the topic. I’d love to see a submission from you!

I’ll be running the post on the 3rd and will submit the info on the carnival form that morning. Whew, nothing like skating in under the deadline
By the way, can I use the word ‘dickweed’ in my post or would ‘ditch-licking weasel’ be more appropriate?

Hello again Cori,
Great idea – I am working on a project for my site designed to help wellness practitioneers get the money they deserve for their hard work. So, I am going to share what I am doing in the project in a posting submission to the carnival. Just got to put fingers to the keyboard. Then I will submit it.
cheers,
David
Hey David! Awesome, sounds like it will be perfect!
Okay so I’m skating the deadline a bit myself as I’ve been struggling with this more than I thought I would. My blog is pretty personal and has nothing to do with blogging or marketing and coming up with a post about how to monetize it without turning off my readers is harder than I imagined. Though I’m sure that’s part of the idea of a carnival, to challenge us as writers, right?
So I was just wondering if I wrote a post about ideas to help my readers make money by using their skills as fanfiction writers (which is the theme of my blog), would that count?
I guess I’m just struggling with how this is supposed to be addressed. I know that I want to do other monetizing things with my blog someday (like publish a couple of e-books, maybe create a member’s only forum, etc) but I’m afraid that if I do a post about these ideas (especially when they’re not ready yet) people won’t appreciate it, or worst yet, someone might take the idea and run with it themselves.
Okay it’s early and maybe I’m still tired. Let me know if I’m reading WAY too much into this. LOL.
-Moki
Hey Moki! I think you’re on a good track!
I conferred with Joella (Mama bear in running the carnival!) regarding your questions, and here is her response:
Go for it. You should mention in general, without giving your secrets away, the other ways to monetize a blog and go into how to go slow as to not offend readers. It will be an awesome post. Address the post to your Fanfiction Writers, but generalize a little with good advice that applys to anyone. It works.
Thanks Moki, hope this helps, and can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Mine has been submitted. Now what? Do we still promote the posts like normal or will there be a different link or something?
Hey Jay! Yep, just do your usual… Once I receive it and it’s approved, you’ll get an email from me stating so, and then on Sept 6th, I’ll publish a post with a brief excerpt on BGB and a link to your blog, along with links out to all the other submissions that were approved as well.
No more work required on your part!
Cool thank you. I look forward to your post. Sure hope I’m on it
Hey Cori,
I just finished my article and submitted it. If it is approved can you put the category ‘business blogging’ on my submission. I opps! somehow deleted my category selection.
Thank you for hosting all of this.
Cheers,
David
Awesome, thanks David..I think I already emailed you back on this, but thanks for dropping in to comment.

It was really nice of you to let other bloggers showcase their talent on your blog. You are truly helping them out by giving them exposure. That’s the way to be successful. Everyone has got to learn how to share.
